Connect ZenMode to Grok (MCP): ask about your campaigns from a chat
Add ZenMode as a custom connector in Grok, approve it on a ZenMode page, then ask about your campaigns, contacts and conversations.

What this integration is
ZenMode has a remote MCP server. Grok, xAI's assistant, can connect to it as a custom connector, so you can ask about your ZenMode account in a chat: how your campaigns are performing, who a contact is, what was said in a LinkedIn conversation.
Server address: https://www.zen-mode.io/api/mcp
Grok connects the way ChatGPT and claude.ai do: you approve the connection on a ZenMode page while signed in, and it is tied to one of your API keys. It is the same server and the same tools as the Claude guide, which lists every tool and its limits.
The safety rule
An AI assistant cannot send a message or a connection request through ZenMode. There is no tool for it. The only way anyone gets contacted is by being added to one of your campaigns, and the campaign then works through them inside your daily and weekly limits, your business hours and your pacing.
Every connection is read only unless you choose otherwise on the approval page. A key that is set to read only keeps the connection at read only, whatever you pick there. With a connection that allows changes, an assistant can create a campaign (always paused) and start it only after showing you a summary and getting your yes. Starting a campaign contacts nobody at that moment: it runs later, inside your limits and business hours, and only while the ZenMode desktop app is open.
Before you start
- You need a ZenMode plan of Practitioner or above (a free trial counts as the plan you are trialling). Novice accounts are told so with an upgrade link.
- Create an API key under MCP / API in the dashboard, and leave Let AI assistants make changes unticked unless you want Grok to be able to add people to campaigns or change targeting.
- A Grok account on grok.com. xAI decides which accounts can add custom connectors, and it can change that.
Add ZenMode to Grok
These are the steps we ran on 14 October 2026 on grok.com, on the web. Grok's menus change, so treat the names as a guide.
- In Grok, open Plugins at the bottom of the sidebar. On the Connectors tab, click New Connector, then Custom.
- Name it ZenMode, enter
https://www.zen-mode.io/api/mcpas the Server URL, and click Add Connector. - Grok opens a ZenMode page in a popup window. Sign in if asked, choose Read only, choose the API key to connect with, and click Allow. The popup closes, and Grok lists ZenMode under Connected with its tools.
- In a new chat, click +, then Connectors, and check that ZenMode is switched on. Then ask your question. Grok may ask you to confirm your age before your first chat.
What we tested, and what we did not
On 14 October 2026 we ran the steps above on grok.com against the live server, with a test account and a read-only
connection (zenmode.read):
- Grok found ZenMode's sign-in details, registered itself, and finished the approval in its popup. Grok did not ask for a paid plan at any step.
- Grok listed every ZenMode tool, 22 on that day, including the ones that change things. On a read-only connection those are refused if called.
- In a chat we asked Grok to use only the read tools. It called the twelve that only read (the setup status, account summary, campaigns, a campaign and its targeting, a contact search, a contact and their conversation, the safety status, the desktop app details and setup, and the message check), and each answered from the account. ZenMode's own log showed those calls and nothing else, and nothing in the account changed.
We did not test a connection that allows changes, any tool that changes things, starting a campaign, Grok's mobile apps, Grok inside X, or xAI's API.
Example prompts
- "Use ZenMode to show how my campaigns are doing this month. Which one has the best reply rate?"
- "Use ZenMode to find the contact Priya Shah and show where she stands."
- "Read my ZenMode conversation with Priya Shah and draft a reply I can send myself."
- "Check this connection note with ZenMode before I use it: ..."
Limits
Each API key can make 60 tool calls a minute. If the connection allows changes, they are capped at 10 a minute and 300 a day, and at most 500 people a day can be added through an assistant. These are the assistant's own call limits; your LinkedIn daily and weekly limits are separate and are applied by your campaigns, as always.
FAQ
Can Grok send LinkedIn messages or connection requests through ZenMode?
No. No ZenMode tool does that. With a connection that allows changes, Grok can add people to a campaign, or start a campaign after you say yes, and your campaign reaches them later under your daily and weekly limits, business hours and pacing.
Which ZenMode plans include the MCP server?
Practitioner and above, the same as the ZenMode API. A free trial counts as the plan you are trialling. Novice accounts are told so with an upgrade link, and their API keys are kept so they work again as soon as the account moves up.
Can Grok see my teammates' campaigns?
No. It sees only the account that owns the API key it connected with. Workspace members' campaigns are not reachable, even for a workspace owner.
How do I disconnect Grok?
Open Plugins in Grok, click the ZenMode connector and choose Disconnect, or revoke the API key you chose in the ZenMode dashboard. Revoking the key ends the connection straight away.
Does it need my LinkedIn password?
No. ZenMode never asks for LinkedIn credentials, and nothing in this connection touches them.
