Sales Navigator

Sales Navigator earns its place in an outreach workflow for one reason: precision. Free LinkedIn search gives you a keyword box and a few blunt filters. Sales Navigator gives you seven groups of lead filters — Company, Role, Personal, Buyer Intent, Best Path In, Recent Updates and Workflow (LinkedIn's filter definitions) — so you can build a list around Function, Current job title, Company headcount and Years in current position rather than guessing from a title string alone. For outreach, that is the product. Everything else is a bonus.

Whether it is worth paying for depends on how narrow your ICP is. LinkedIn lists Core at US$119.99 a month and Advanced at US$159.99, with Advanced Plus priced per team (compare plans). Premium Business is cheaper and fine if your targeting is essentially "this industry, this city". Once you need headcount bands, seniority and a timing signal like Posted on LinkedIn in the same search, Premium cannot get you there and Navigator can.

Two limits should shape how you use it. You can only page through 2,500 lead results across 100 pages (LinkedIn Help), so a search returning "10,000+" is a search you have not finished building. And you get 50 saved lead searches in total (LinkedIn Help) — treat them as a curated set, not a dumping ground.

Then the thing it does not do: export. In LinkedIn's own words, "LinkedIn currently doesn't offer the option to export account and lead information from Sales Navigator into a CSV or XLS file" (LinkedIn Help). Build your workflow around lead lists and saved searches, not a spreadsheet.

Where to start

Still deciding? Read our comparison of Sales Navigator and LinkedIn Premium first. Already paying? Our guide to the search filters covers building a list worth messaging, and the practical outreach walkthrough takes that list through to a first message. When the list becomes repeatable, what actually works when you automate Sales Navigator covers the workflow around it.
