Choose Sales Navigator CRM Sync if sellers need to recognize and work with existing CRM records in Sales Navigator. Choose an outreach-tool CRM integration if the priority is getting that tool’s contacts or logged activity into the CRM. These are different jobs, not interchangeable versions of a two-way sync. LinkedIn describes CRM import with optional, selective writeback; ZenMode describes contact, deal and activity flows for its HubSpot integration. A team that needs both jobs should evaluate both connections and test each result separately.
Compare the data flows, not the word “sync”
Sales Navigator CRM Sync brings CRM accounts, contacts and leads into the seller’s prospecting environment. LinkedIn also offers selective writeback, which can be enabled separately from import. For its documented HubSpot and Oracle implementation, LinkedIn describes CRM matches and badges that help sellers identify records, plus user-driven activity writeback. That is a more specific promise than “everything in LinkedIn goes to the CRM.”
An outreach-tool connection starts with records in that tool. ZenMode says its HubSpot integration pushes contacts, deals and logged activities to HubSpot, where activities are written as notes; it pulls HubSpot contacts, deals and notes back. Its Salesforce integration maps ZenMode contacts, deals and activities to Salesforce Contacts, Opportunities and Tasks. Neither description establishes that ZenMode imports Sales Navigator’s CRM matches or badges. Treat those as a separate requirement to verify, not as another name for outreach sync.
| Criterion | Sales Navigator CRM Sync | ZenMode outreach CRM integration |
|---|---|---|
| Primary flow | CRM accounts, contacts and leads into Sales Navigator; selected information can be written back. | ZenMode contacts, deals and activities into HubSpot or Salesforce; supported CRM data also moves back into ZenMode (see the Salesforce integration). |
| Activity destination | Selected Sales Navigator activity can be logged to CRM records through the seller’s workflow. | ZenMode activities become HubSpot notes or Salesforce Tasks; neither integration promises LinkedIn message content in those entries. |
| Eligibility | Sales Navigator Advanced Plus; CRM Sync must be enabled for the user by an admin. | ZenMode advertises its HubSpot and Salesforce OAuth connections on all ZenMode plans. |
| When to expect a result | CRM import feeds Sales Navigator; activity writeback depends on the enabled seller action, not a general outreach-tool export. | Campaign-created contacts reach HubSpot or Salesforce on Sync Now, not via the scheduled pull or an on-write push. |
Choose by the record your team needs to see
Consider a fictional team using HubSpot. Its sellers want to know whether a person they find in Sales Navigator is already represented in HubSpot. Separately, its outreach operator wants a contact created during a ZenMode campaign to appear in HubSpot for handoff. Those requests share a CRM but have different starting points and destinations.
For the seller’s prospecting view, evaluate Sales Navigator CRM Sync. LinkedIn’s HubSpot implementation describes matching CRM people and companies to LinkedIn records and showing CRM badges in Sales Navigator. The team would need Advanced Plus, admin-enabled CRM Sync and the appropriate CRM access. If its only goal were this in-product CRM context, an outreach-tool connection would not be the purchase criterion.
For the handoff, evaluate ZenMode’s HubSpot connection against the actual contact the campaign creates. Its documentation says campaign-created contacts wait for Sync Now; enabling auto-sync does not make that campaign contact an immediate push, and the nightly run pulls from HubSpot rather than sending it. The resulting action for this fictional team is to assess both connections, run Sync Now for a test campaign contact, and inspect that contact in HubSpot while separately checking the CRM match in Sales Navigator.
If the team instead needs only outreach handoff, it need not buy a prospecting-view capability to solve that problem. Conversely, if it only needs CRM recognition while prospecting, it need not treat outreach sync as a substitute. Selecting the audience is another decision: use our Sales Navigator prospect-list guide for that work, rather than conflating list building with CRM data movement.
Verify the destination, permissions and trigger before purchase
Make the evaluation concrete: name one source record, the destination where a teammate must find it, the fields that must survive, and the action that should move it. A successful connection screen alone does not show that the right person or activity landed on the right CRM record. Use the fields below as acceptance criteria for a small test, then record what actually appeared.
- Confirm eligibility and access. LinkedIn lists HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle Sales and Salesforce as CRM Sync partners and reserves the integration for Advanced Plus. Ask the CRM admin to confirm the relevant objects are visible and CRM Sync is enabled for the seller. LinkedIn distinguishes access for using integration features from the user’s read/write permission to update a particular lead or contact record. For ZenMode, check that your destination is its documented HubSpot or Salesforce connection and that the connecting account can authorize it.
- Write down the required object and fields. For a HubSpot handoff, decide whether the team needs a contact’s email and LinkedIn profile URL, an associated deal, a logged activity, or the actual message body. ZenMode documents the profile URL field as hs_linkedin_url and activities as HubSpot notes whose default body is a short activity description, not message text. Its Salesforce activity destination is Tasks, and its documented sync does not push LinkedIn message content. Do not count an activity entry as proof that a conversation transcript arrived.
- Test matching, not just arrival. Before syncing a fictional test contact, note its email, LinkedIn profile URL and expected CRM record. Check whether the sync updated that record, created another or skipped it. ZenMode says its HubSpot lookup checks email and then LinkedIn profile URL; a contact with only a Sales Navigator URL and no email cannot be matched to a person saved under a profile URL and is listed as skipped. In Sales Navigator, check the intended CRM match rather than assuming a badge identifies the right duplicate record.
- Test each trigger you intend to rely on. For a ZenMode campaign-created contact, use Sync Now and inspect the CRM destination. Then test any expected automatic behavior separately: ZenMode says auto-sync is off by default; with it enabled, a direct ZenMode CRM contact or deal edit can push on write, while its scheduled run pulls CRM changes into ZenMode. For Sales Navigator writeback, have an authenticated seller test a permitted action against a known CRM record and confirm the result there. Do not infer that a successful import also proves writeback.
